It's A God Thing!

Romans 1:20 – For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (KJV)

A reply in response to one of my devotionals inspired this one. The reader said she liked how I could take an ordinary situation and turn it into a God Thing. It made me think about what some refer to as coincidences and what others of us believe, that with God, there are no coincidences.

We have all experienced situations where things clicked seemingly inexplicably.

For example, after a friend had completed her course to work with terminally ill and bereaved people, I mentioned to her that she would henceforth probably find that without ever mentioning it, and aside from those with whom she would be volunteering, people who were experiencing terminal illness themselves or with a family member, and those who are grieving, might be drawn to her in her daily life or social situations.

Less than two weeks later, she told me of two incidences that week where she happened to be in the right place at the right time, when someone unknown to her and seemingly out of the blue had felt drawn to confide in her. Her response to me was, "Isn't that a coincidence!". She agreed with my response of "Oh, they say that with God, there are no coincidences."

Perhaps in future coincidental situations, with a twinkle in one's eye, a more appropriate response might be, "Isn't that a God Thing it happened!"

And isn't it a God Thing that that reader's response inspired this devotional?

Prayer: We give thanks to you, O Lord, for placing us in the right place at the right time; for those times when we can be of help or are helped when it is really needed; for those times when whatever we are doing, just clicks or falls perfectly in place. We thank you for the God Things in our life. In your name we pray. Amen.
