Genesis 9:13 – I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. (NIV)
Rainbows are a sign of God's promise never to destroy us but to give us life with Him. I pray that all of us will look beyond our dark clouds and see God's love colours for us. Rainbows are so colourful — like God wants us to be. And I find rainbows are brightest following the storms in my life and in the light of His Son Jesus Christ.
Yes, storms in my life take on the colour of joy when I bury the dark clouds and walk on in faith! Last year was hard, as we watched our 30-year-old son go on kidney dialysis, then undergo a second kidney transplant that was rejected by his body, and then his passing on to heaven in early December.
Yes, I miss him terribly, but he's now pain-free and whole again. I stand on the solid rock of Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, and thank God for allowing us 30 years on earth with Jonathan, and then forever with him and Jesus in eternity. God assures us that we are not bodies with souls but are souls with bodies, for He has promised to be with us and will never forsake us. So I treasure my soul relationship with my God.
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life" (John 14:6). Yes, Jesus is the way that leads from where we are to where God is.
Prayer: Father God, we pray that we will continue to grow up with Jesus and to freely praise in, but not necessarily for, all things. You give us promises in rainbows, and you gave us Jesus as the way and truth and life to guide us on this earthly path which leads to eternity with you. Thank you for loving us so much. Help us to be worthy and love-giving. In the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
