In The Eyes Of The Beholder

Ecclesiastes 11:5 – Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things. (NASB)
Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. (NASB)
Isaiah 44:24 – Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the Lord, am the maker of all things." (NASB)

Do you know that God knew you even before you were born? He formed each one as He wanted. He is the Potter and we are the clay. Each one of us is a precious child of God, a masterpiece, created and designed by our heavenly Father.

"But," you may ask, "what about a child who is born with a handicap?" If God knew us before we were born, then He also knew that one of His precious children would be born blind, or be hearing-impaired, or have some other disability.

God does not make a mistake. There is a reason why in His almighty plan. We need only to trust.

We see what we are conditioned to see. Television, magazines and society, sell us the "perfect" body, the "perfect" hairstyle and the "perfect" diet to make us look "perfect". Models with "perfect" bodies sell us the clothing that they are wearing. This is the mind-set of today's society.

There were voices crying out for acceptance long ago in stories such as "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Elephant Man" and many others. There are voices still crying out today, each wanting to be accepted, to be recognized as a fellow human being and to be loved.

In Jesus, you and I are perfect, and loved.

Prayer: Lord, help us to look beyond the imperfections and disabilities that confront us every day and to accept Your creation just because You willed it so. Lord, forgive us for having our minds set on what we think is "perfection". Amen.
