Written Out For You

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 – However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" — but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit. (NIV)

Have you ever sent a card or a letter to someone and included a scripture in it? I have, and I have also received help and encouragement from cards or letters that had a scripture for me to read and meditate on. This is something we should all think about doing. I have a friend who does this. In her cards, she writes, for example, "Phil. 4:4", but then she writes the scripture out in full: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice." Her reasoning for writing it out in full is that whoever reads the scripture has it in front of them, so they may read it without having to look it up.

Sometimes people need a little extra help to find the way, or a message of encouragement or understanding in their lives. Let us keep this in mind, the next time we are thinking of sending a card. Let us stop and think whether we might include a scripture verse, and if so, let's write it out in full. It is in caring that we should share God's word with those we love.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the messages written out for us in Your word. Help us to be aware that You have prepared them for us, and You will reveal Your word, to us, through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
