Ecclesiastes 11:7 – Truly the light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun. (NKJV)
As I stood in the kitchen today I looked out the window at the trees in my view. One tall stately tree was lit up by the reflection of the setting sun. It looked radiant and made me think of "God's Light", and "Sonshine", and how he has shone on me several times in the past. It made me feel so blessed.
Several years ago I was to attend a court case where a man was charged with abusing my daughter. I felt fearful and concerned. The Sunday before the court case, I was at a seminar and attended a meditation group, where I spoke quietly to God and asked Him to be with me throughout the coming week. He shone on me when I clearly heard Him reply to me, "Behold I will be with you always even unto the end," and He was and will be always. Without His light and presence I would not have made it through the five-day trial without breaking down.
As I once returned home from my daughter's, via the British Columbia Ferry system, I settled down for the trip across the Strait of Georgia. I was greatly concerned and thinking about my daughter and her family. I looked up to see the most beautiful sunset in the distance. The giant fiery orange ball quickly slid behind the mountainous curtain of the horizon. I said a quiet prayer saying, "Thank you, God, for this wonderful evidence of your presence in my life." He shone on me again just as I was thinking about the problems my daughter was facing and had faced. It was like God was saying to me, "The sun has set on all this, now leave it in my hands".
Remember that just as God sent His "Sonshine" and light to me in a dark time in my life, He will be with all of us always, just as He was and is with me, even unto the end.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your "Sonshine" that lights up our way even when we are not aware of it. We know in our hearts that, even when the going gets tough, you will always be with us. Help us to remember that your light shines through all the dark times in our lives just as in the good times. Amen.
