Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Mark 3:22 – For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (NIV)
Each day on the website version of Daily, the title of the next day's devotional is posted. The other day I looked forward with particular anticipation to seeing the next day's Daily devotional. It read "4X4S In the Snow". For some unknown reason I read it as "Four Times Four S In The Snow". Maybe I have missed too many winters in the north and my mind was far removed from what a "4×4" is. When I looked at it in a glance I thought, "Is that some kind of a code?" I questioned the title and could hardly wait for the devotional that was to follow. The next day came and I called up the e-mail to read the devotional. As I read, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I saw the real meaning: a four wheel drive! How silly, I laughed! How could I be so out of it?
It made me think of interpreting and understanding the Bible. I wonder how many people read the Bible and just see "4X4 S" instead of "four wheel drive vehicles". The Holy Spirit interprets to us the inspired Word of the living God so that we can know the true meaning. It is through the Holy Spirit that the Scriptures are made more understandable. God in His infinite timing makes things clearer for us. No "4X4 S".
Prayer: Lord teach us to look into the Word and in prayer wait for you to open our minds and hearts, so that we may be led by the Holy Spirit to a clearer, deeper understanding. Amen.
