God's Ultimate Plans

Monday, November 9, 1998

When I was growing up I always had a hard time in school with problems, numbers and just basic Mathematics. I struggled and struggled. My wonderful mother, although I didn't think so at the time, would tutor me all year and then through the summer months as well. I'll never forget all those bundles of toothpicks! She was patient, kind and loving. Even though she helped me, I never made a grade higher than a C. After graduating from high school with only Grade 8 Math, I realized that to get anywhere in this world I would have to take more Math. I actually got a B in Grade 12 Math! This greatly restored my confidence in myself. I went on to a career of Veterinary Assistant for 10 years. I couldn't have done it without my mother.

I am now over 40, just. But I think I have finally figured out what God wants me to do with my life. I have been through so many experiences. As I look back, I see how God has been shaping my life. Through pain and hardship, frustration, loneliness, sadness, joy and happiness, He has been leading me and guiding me, showing me which door will finally be mine to open for the real happiness of knowing what is His will for my life.

He wants me to teach Math to learning disabled children! I have been there. I know what it is like to not know the answer, even after it has been explained six different ways. Through my accidental volunteering at my children's school, I have discovered God's gift to me. It has taken three years of experience volunteering in the classroom, but now I know, without a doubt, what God has in mind for me, and He started His plan for me when I was just a child, struggling with Math! This is an exciting discovery.

Are you wondering what God has in store for you? Keep in mind that God knows exactly what He is doing from the day that you were conceived. He has a plan for you. How do you know God's will for your life? Life's experiences are God's gifts to you. Be patient; live life through prayer, patience and love. Eventually, your God-given gathered gifts will come in handy and you will realize true happiness in the Lord. You will know without a doubt, as I do, that this is what God intended all along. So, find something positive about each experience, knowing that God is still in control and His plan will be revealed when He is more than satisfied that you can handle His plan.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for being with us from the time that we were conceived. Help us not to get caught up with questions about what Your will is for our life. Help us to pay attention to what You are doing for us right now and to find the "silver lining in the cloud". Thank You for the good and the bad, because we know this is Your gift to us. Help us to use it wisely. Thank You that we have assurance that You do have a plan for us, a place to use the gifts that You have given us. Be with us now, Lord. Amen.
