Ephesians 3:2 – If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
Ephesians 3:9 – And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.
My husband is on the road, across two provinces, most of the time, and so we are always thankful for safe journeys. Many's the time over the years while travelling alone, or together, an animal has loomed up in front or beside the vehicle, and again, we give thanks for what might have been.
Recently, on a return trip from the interior of British Columbia, with a certain fear still in his voice, my husband told of his closest call yet. It was dark and before he knew it, a moose had appeared out of nowhere and was hit. Shaken but unhurt, my husband got out of his vehicle and checked the animal. It was a young moose, dead, but with no marks or blood. The only evidence of a connection was the sheared off mirror on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The animal must have connected with the mirror at a very vulnerable spot, such as the temple, and died instantly.
The next day happened to be a day when one of my devotionals appeared, and attached to the bottom was a prayer request for three young men from Vancouver who had been traumatized, one seriously hurt, when their vehicle hit a moose in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
It is not for us to question why something happens to some while others are spared, for we know it is part of God's over-all plan. It is however, a stark reality of life, especially when the young are hurt or taken, and those who have lived a longer or fuller life, are not. We must trust that what happens, comes from a place of love and that only God knows where things fit into his master plan for each of us.
Prayer: Our heavenly Father, help us to understand and trust in your works. May we gain strength from the words of the Lord's Prayer, especially that "thy will be done". Be with the families and friends as well as all those who, just as those three young men, are experiencing pain or loss as this part of your master plan. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
