Our Father (2)

Matthew 7:11 – If ye…know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?

Just as He is our Father, so too is he our children's Father. Our children are gifts he has placed in our care. They are loaned to us, and the good gifts we give our children include love, friendship, values and understanding, shelter, clothing and education. One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is "wings".

We give them wings when they take their first step, venture off to that first day of school on their own, figure out their own "fashion statement", meet their first mate, and have their first broken heart. We give them wings when they try out for a new team, a new job, a driver's licence, and when they go away to school.

We give them wings when they venture out on their own, be it living in a little room, moving to another city, trekking across the country, starting a new career, or entering into a marriage.

With each step our children take, to give them wings, we must learn how to place them in our Father's care, and trust that He will bestow upon them His help and guidance, and only those good gifts which He knows will best suit their needs.

Prayer: Our Father in Heaven, bless our children whom you have placed in our care. Be with us Lord, as we give them their "wings", and be with them as they try them out. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
