Romans 8:31 – If God is for us, who can be against us?
Isn't it interesting to hear the fans instruct the football team and its coaches? I have attended several Ohio State football games. I have been present when they have had a season in which they won each game; but let a bad play develop and some fans screamed bloody murder. I have heard them curse Woody and a few minutes later with execution of a good play they would bless him. It is easy to second guess and to be a coach from the bleachers.
I believe many are like this in their relationship with the Lord. Let everything be going as they feel it should and they are on top for the Lord. If any obstacle appears or a problem arises, they are at odds with God. Prayer for them is seen as a means to trigger God to action in their lives. It is not a relationship which is deep, personal and constant.
It is prayer which will enable you to keep from second guessing God. It will help you to see that the Lord is working out His plan in your life regardless of the outward circumstances and puzzling events. Prayer will be the stabilizing force to keep you on course for Him. You will not want to be the head coach, but will leave that position up to the Lord.
Prayer: Father, enable me to desire to keep in close relationship with You regardless of outward circumstances. Amen.
