Psalm 144:3-4 – Oh Lord, what is man that you even notice him? Why bother at all with the human kind? For man is but a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Several years ago my wife and I experienced for the first time the awesomeness of the Rocky Mountains. As we stood looking at the sheer rock face of Mount Edith Cavelle stretching up to the sky we felt insignificant and humbled. The structure told the story of thousands of years in the making, oblivious of the lifespan of a single person. It was almost overwhelming.
It was followed by a retreat to the quietness and beauty of a cabin among soothing pine trees overlooking the serene greenness of the valley below. It was a vivid reminder to us of the power and majesty of God our Creator and of His love for each one of us as His special people.
Psalm 23:2-3 – He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the beauty and wonder of our world which you created. Thank you that you have shown how much you love each one of us by sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to be our teacher and our Saviour. Amen.
