Psalm 143:8 – Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
A beautiful day for sailing! It couldn't have been more perfect until the fog bank came down the harbour, shrouding us in white. There was not a sound, not a breath of wind, not a single object to be seen. Yes, I felt fear. We took one compass heading and kept going. Time and again I was tempted to shift course, presuming that I knew where I was and where I should be, but I fought temptation and we ended up not five meters from the markers indicating the mouth of the marina. When you're lost in the fog, you must trust the only guide you've got. Remind you of anything Jesus said? "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me. You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him: "How can we know the way?" Jesus answered: "I am the way…" (John 14:1,2,5,6)
Prayer: Wide is the ocean, and frail our vessel; steer us toward the shore of everlasting peace and bring us to the harbour of our heart's desire where you, our blessed God, live and reign for ever and ever. Adapted from St. Augustine.
