It Takes All Kinds

1 Samuel 16:7 – The Lord does not see as we see. We look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

Max Christensen has written a book entitled, Turning Points: Stories of People who made a Difference, and in it he recounts the stories of many nobodies who become somebody because they trust God and believe God wills the very best for them and from them. We all need to be changed. Our stories need to be added to their stories until everybody's story is part of God's story and we all become the people God wants us to be.

It took children to tells the disciples what the kingdom of God was really like. It took women to anoint Jesus for his death. It took a doubter like Thomas to see in Jesus the Son of God. It took a fighter like Paul to convince the world of who Jesus is. It takes all of us to tell the world that Jesus is with us still. A whole lot of nobodies, all working together, can plant all kinds of mustard seeds and watch them grow and see how God can use them to bring in his kingdom of love and peace. God chooses you. No matter what you look like, how important you are or think you are, how big or small you feel. God looks deep within and chooses those who can love, and care, and share, and sacrifice, and in everything, follow. It truly is more than skin deep.

Prayer: Lead us, Lord into a life that brings honour to your name. Look deep within us and draw out the best and help us offer the best in your name always, for we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
