1 John 4:21 – The commandment we have from God is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.
One day Charlie Brown is reflecting to Lucy on what a disgrace it is the way she and Linus, her brother, fight all the time. "You're really lucky to have each other. Brothers and sisters should learn to love each other and get along together." A very sombre Lucy looks down at the ground and responds: "You're right, Charlie Brown… your little speech has opened my eyes." Charlie can hardly believe his ears and says, "Well, I'm very glad…" and is interrupted by Lucy breaking out in peals of laughter that Charlie Brown could actually believe her.
Sometimes the people around us need to be told, in all sincerity, how much they mean to us and how much we really love them. The Bible invites us to express this love daily.
Prayer: Help us, gracious God, to realize how precious are the people you put in our lives and how important it is to reach out in love to those nearest and dearest to us. Amen.
