Psalm 150:3-6 – Praise him with the trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

One of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard were the Waywayseecappo Sacred Drummers in Manitoba. When I first invited the drum into the church for a sacred wedding song, the drummers thought I had lost my senses — drums had no place in church. Drums were for the native people. We had to do a little persuading before we could proceed. We had a wonderful time telling folk that God blessed our use of whatever brought praise to his name, even bagpipes, let alone drums!

Whether it is with drums, with bamboo, with pipe, with guitar, with organ, or with bagpipe, let the rafters ring, to the glory and praise of our God!

Prayer: We lift up the sounds of all creation in the never-ending song of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Help us to hear and respond to his wonderful word this day and forever. Amen.
