Acts 2:46-47 – Day by day as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home, and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people.
In one of those delightful home visits that make being a minister so worthwhile, I had a couple with glowing faces tell how much it meant to them to get out of bed on Sunday morning and never say those words "Do we go to church today?" No, it's Sunday. Today we go to church. "This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it." And it is a special day, the resurrection day, and we'll join Christians across the community in celebrating the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord. It wasn't like that for this couple until a crisis came into their lives that threatened everything they held to be sacred. The crisis made them take stock of their life and family and they found they had to set new priorities in their lives. What wonderful life they have brought to our church!
Thanks be to God.
Prayer: Lord, we have no higher calling than to offer the praise you deserve, day by day, Sunday by Sunday. Receive the love of the whole creation on this day of resurrection through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
