Isaiah 53:2b – He had no form or majesty that we should look at him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
I've used the video "Beauty and the Beast" on a number of occasions, and I must use it again, for it is an illustration of divine love where Beauty does not love the Beast because he is beautiful, but makes him beautiful by loving him.
We have no form or comeliness or beauty that God should love us, but Christ came to love us into a new relationship with God. And Christ's beauty shines in us and it is this beauty God sees as we stand face to face. Agape (divine love) is a transforming love, and every once in a while we see it shine through the saints of God. Let's hope, and pray, that the beauty and the love of God will shine through us to others today.
Prayer: God of all love: take us and transform us into the image of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, that in every moment and every meeting we may be as Christ to another. We ask this for the glory of his holy name. Amen.
