She walked out on the stage before 40 children, proudly carrying a small child's chair. After twirling in circles she placed the chair centre stage and with great bravissimo announced "I have faith that this chair will hold me." Then, in a great flourish, she seated herself on the chair which promptly broke into three pieces sending both the seat and the seated onto the stage floor. Though the skit was designed to teach the children about faith, it only succeeded in illustrating fallen faith.
How many of us live with a fallen faith, only living by faith when things go our way, only having faith when everything is firmly in place and life is well supported. God's faith is not like that chair. It well not crash out from underneath you, even when everything seems to be falling apart in your life. God will not let His children fall from His hand. In Him you can say, "I have faith that God will hold me and sustain me," and seat yourself firmly in His grasp.
Galatians 2:20 – The life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.
Prayer: Father, I choose this day to live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave His life for me. I choose this day to live by faith in the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit. I choose this day to live by faith in a heavenly Father who loves His children and calls out to each of them to take His hand and walk each day with Him. Amen.
