Strength Renewed

Monday, September 30, 1996

Isaiah 40:29-31 – God gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might God increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and the young shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

No matter how exhausted life leaves us, when we look expectantly to God in faith, we will surely find solace and strength. Those of us who know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour can add that in Christ we have been given a new life of hope. Far more than wishful thinking, the hope we have in Jesus is a certain, sure expectation, that God will do what God has promised. This hope renews. This living hope heals, restores, and redeems the day. Confident that God can do what we cannot do for ourselves, we rejoice in each frost-caressed morning, the amber and gold of each autumn day, praising God for the opportunity each one brings.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, In your name we approach your heavenly throne rejoicing in your presence with us. Continue to strengthen us, renewing our energies for your Kingdom. May your Name be glorified in all that we do. Amen.
