Blisters On Our Hands

Listen to this devotional:

2 Samuel 22:3 – My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold, my high tower, my saviour, the one who saves me from violence. (NLT)

The warm weather brings people out from their homes and into their gardens. Turning over the soil to prepare it for planting is always a daunting task for me. Living in a country in which we experience snow, I find that the soil is even more compacted. This year as I began the task, I forgot to put on my gardening gloves. It wasn't long before I noticed blisters forming on my hands. Once I found the gloves, I was back at digging the dirt and turning it over. I wasn't bothered again by any new blisters, and the ones that had been forming were now protected by the gloves.

Having Jesus in our lives also provides us with protection, once we accept Him. We don't need to continually put Him on — He is always with us, providing love, grace, and mercy on our behalf. Jesus took the blisters of life to the cross to give us eternal life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we don't ever want to take lightly the protection You provide for us. May we have an even greater awareness and comprehension of the price that You paid for us on the cross as we draw closer to You in our walk. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
