Wired For Sound

Listen to this devotional:

Psalm 89:15 – Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance. (NKJV)

I dropped my son off at church so that he could do the PowerPoint for the Sunday services. The worship team was already there, getting ready for the morning services. As they were doing the sound checks and microphone checks, I noticed one thing: the worship leader was in constant contact with the people at the back of the room who were doing the technical part. She was able to let them know if she wanted the microphones and instruments turned up or down. How was this done? They were not yelling across the church to one another.

I asked my son, who explained that she has an earpiece that allows her to hear what the congregation hears. This enables her to know how things will sound to everyone who is listening. Through the use of hand signals, she was able to tune into the sounds that she needed to hear to produce the final product.

How great it would be always to be in tune with the Lord — to be able to filter out all the rest of the distractions and ways of the world, and hear only Him in our ears!

John 10:27 – My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help us to be tuned into You. We are sorry for the times when we allow the other things of this world to filter into our thoughts and actions. We want to be obedient to You, and to You alone. Amen.
