People In Need

Listen to this devotional:

Ephesians 4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (NIV)

I recently came across the path and life of another person who seems to have no family, who is not able to drive, and who is suffering from medical problems. This person is in their home, except for one trip a week to church and one other trip a week either to the store or to the doctor.

A story, a journey, and our relationship with Jesus: we all have a story, one that tells of our walk, whether young or old; a story of our journey with the Lord, telling of sadness and joy in our lives. Are we able to see the story of each person whom we meet? Sometimes we can see it in the face of the person, but most times we cannot.

John 4:16-18 – Jesus said to her [the woman at the well], "Go, call your husband, and come here." The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,' for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly." (NKJV)

Only One can see and know our hearts and our stories, as we see from the verses above. Jesus knows each of our stories, and He is compassionate and caring towards us in our own situations. He does not judge us nor condemn us; He loves us and ministers to us right where we are.

1 John 3:17 – If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God's love? It disappears. And you made it disappear. (MSG)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we want to be like You and show love and compassion for the people who come into our lives. Help us to know when to get involved and when to share Your love with others. We thank You dearly for the price that was paid on the cross for us so that we could have eternal life. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
