Forgiveness

Listen to this devotional:

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)

As I reminisce about our children when they were young, I remember the days of muddy little feet tracking into the house. They had been having fun — in the sprinkler on a hot day, in the mud puddles, or having a water fight. I can't count the number of times I washed the floor after they tracked into the house. It was easy to do — just get out the scrub bucket and mop. Before long, all was clean again.

We track on the floor of our lives too. Those tracks could be our trampling on a relationship, or living in denial that affects every aspect of our lives. They could be sneering at authority. The list could go on and on.

God sees the messes we make — the tracks on the floor of our lives. He is so willing to cleanse us and to get rid of the tracks, if only we will confess to Him — as our text for today says.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You see all the tracks we make. They don't surprise You at all because You are omniscient. Thank You for the power in the blood of the Lamb to wash the tracks away and give us a clean new start. Amen.
