Exodus 15:2 – The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. (NIV)

It's been over a year since our daughter had surgery in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for a serious form of cancer. More surgeries, biopsies, and treatments have followed, but when the anniversary date rolled around, I bowed my head in thanksgiving for the time God has given us. Of her journey this year, Heather said she could relate it to her recent hike across the moors in Scotland. "Mom, when I was walking in the driving rain through the barren land, I'd look ahead at the puddles forming. They looked so big, and I didn't think I could get across, but I did. Every time I got up to the place where I needed to cross, I discovered small pebbles had formed a path for me."

Recently, Heather wrote a "thank you" note to everyone who has prayed for her this past year. She said, "A year has passed, and I am thrilled to report I am on the other side. The doctors believe the cancer is in remission. The journey is not finished. It still continues. But the mountain is not as steep, and I'm on level ground again. And after the rain the flowers bloom."

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to know that when our way looks impossible, You will make a path for us through the mountains and across the puddles. Thank You that during the times when we are overcome with fear, You have gone before us to prepare a path for us. Amen.
