John 14:2 – In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (KJV)

John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (KJV)

One day recently, I received a phone call to let me know that I had won a trip for two — destination anywhere in Canada that Air Canada flies. I was so excited at the news! Until the phone call came, it had slipped my mind that I was in this contest — which I had entered at the hearing service centre, when I dropped in to buy a battery tester for my brother.

I was busy all day notifying all my friends and family about how blessed I was. I thought, oh, it was the luck of the draw, then I thought again, maybe this happened because I dropped in to do something nice for my brother.

As I settled down for the night I was thinking about my good fortune and wondering if we will go to Newfoundland (where my husband hails from) or to my home town in Woodbridge, Ontario, or maybe somehow we might be able to do both. I must wait, however, for the details to arrive in the mail before any decisions can be made as to destination, date, and time.

I couldn't help but think that with Jesus we know our destination right away. He has all the details worked out already: "I am the way, the truth, and the life"; "I go to prepare a place for you." This He did for us when He died on the cross for our sins. What better prize could one hope for than to go to the place our Father has prepared for us!

He has a place for all who turn to him in repentance and faith, a place in eternity — that is our destination. The details are in His hands; He knows the destination, date and time.

Because of Christ's death on the cross and his resurrection, we need only to turn to him in repentance and faith, and our first-class trip is guaranteed. We won't have to wait for airline reservations, schedules, etc.; we can just "fly away" with Him.

Prayer: Dear Father, help us, as we go through each day, to remember to help our brothers and sisters, and to remember always to walk with you. When we slip and fall, pick us up and put us back on your schedule. Help us to live as you would live, and guarantee our destination in eternity with you, so we can indeed fly away to you. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
