The Kite

Psalm 16:11 – You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever. (GNB)

I was out walking one day when I noticed a bright yellow kite caught up in a tree. The string was missing. Two weeks later, despite greater than average rainfall and several windy days, the kite had not moved at all. It will remain stuck unless someone brings a ladder, climbs up, and takes the kite down.

This is similar to the times when we are stuck in a rut in our faith journey. We are like the kite without a special boy or girl, man or woman to direct its movement and keep it flying.

When our connection with God is severed, we lack the direction we need to keep us moving in the correct path. It is at times like this when God uses special circumstances, or brings people to help us.

Prayer: God, our guide for life, we ask you to fill us with a desire to move in the direction that you set and to follow the course that you provide for our lives. When we find ourselves in a rut, come to us and release us, giving us new freedom to move on. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
