Isaiah 65:24 – Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. (NIV)

Never in my life have I had an immediate example of the truth of this Scripture — at least not until today.

Recently, I was given a birthday gift called "The 30-Day Praise Challenge" by Becky Harling. I committed to this challenge and began yesterday.

Day 1 dealt with praising God for His wisdom and with writing out our immediate needs for specific wisdom in a journal. Then, we were to trust Him for our answer.

My immediate need involved wisdom with regard to surgery. Symptoms indicated that I needed it. My need was to know God's timing in the matter. I had to have peace of mind before I would commit to it.

Today, during my prayer time with God, He instructed me to call immediately and make an appointment with my doctor. I obeyed, but I did not mention why I wanted to see him. I received an appointment for Wednesday afternoon. I specify the exact day because of what happened next.

Within two hours, I had a call from the surgeon's office confirming my appointment to deal with this matter the very morning of my doctor's appointment. But I had never been given an appointment to confirm, and I told them so. However, I took it. I instantly knew that it was God and that He would give me the wisdom that I needed at that time.

I am still somewhat stunned by this occurrence, and almost at a loss for words even as I share this account.

Romans 11:33 – Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! (NIV)

If you are longing for a deeper encounter with God and for a fresh awakening to the power of the Holy Spirit in your life as I was, make a habit of praising the Lord. God created us as a people to praise Him, and He responds favourably when we do.

Psalm 22:3 – But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. (KJV)

Prayer: Father, as the source of all wisdom, You can provide wisdom for every decision that we face. You promised us this in Your Word, where we are told, "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5 NIV). Thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing guidance and love. Amen.

    Thought provoking as always Sharon.

I certainly need to practice this moment by moment! Thank you for the reminder.

Ah – God always knows what is best for us. Kinda gives you goose bumps when things like that happen. Good goose bumps though.
    Praying for you my friend.

    Dear Sharon:
Thanks for sharing that amazing story. He is simply wonderful! God bless you Sharon and I pray that all be well with you.

Sharon – Thanks for writing this devotional. I enjoyed hearing of your encounter with God as He answered your prayer; it’s so good to know the Lord intimately, for He is willing and able to give us direction.

    Dear Sharon,
Thanks for sharing your experience of God’s timing and planning for you regarding your appointments for surgery.
I pray that you will have the best of health in the circumstances with God’s will.

    Hi Sharon,
I am not amazed anymore. I trust Him for the next move. He has been there for me every time through the years during my battle with cancer.
He is all-knowing, faithful and trustworthy (see Proverbs 3:5).
    God bless you for sharing.

Wow Sharon – that’s awesome! Thank you for sharing your testimony. Recently, God answered my prayer for wisdom in regard to a decision I needed to make. Although my concern was small in comparison to yours, still, it was amazing how the Lord responded, and very quickly too.
    Blessings.
