Joy To Share

Luke 10:39-42 – [Martha] had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (NIV)

I wish to share with you the joy I experienced on one recent evening! I was busy preparing supper for my family and listening to Christian music, as I often do when doing chores around the home. Was I ever pleasantly surprised when I was suddenly compelled by the Holy Spirit to leave my kitchen and go to the living room just to sit at the feet of the "Master" to worship Him. What a wonderful and glorious time of fellowship we had together!

When my husband arrived home from work, he found no supper made and a wife who was taking time for her heavenly Father. I asked my husband to join me, which he did immediately. We both just sat at the feet of Jesus and worshipped Him for a while. What a marvellous experience it was! What joy flooded our souls and our home!

I was sure my husband had to be hungry after a long day at the office, so after a while, I asked him if he wanted me to finish preparing supper. He said, "I'd just as soon stay right here!" So we stayed a while longer, praising our Lord and basking in His love.

Yes, I finally fed my husband, but it was so wonderful to share the experience of the Lord "feeding" us that we didn't realize we were hungry! (If given the choice, I'd take heavenly manna anytime!) Actually I think our food tasted much better after this. We had a beautiful evening together! Praise the Lord for His blessings!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us always to take time to love and commune with you. Please forgive us for our busy lives, whether they are at church, work, school or home. Help us to be more like Mary and less like Martha. Thank you, dear Lord, for those precious moments we have with just You! May all our dear brothers and sisters in Christ take time out to have their spirits uplifted and joy flood their hearts. In Your name we pray these things. Amen.
