A Few More Steps Toward Eternity

Psalm 71:1,9 – In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me. Do not cast me off in the time old age; do not forsake me when my strength is spent.

Malcolm Muggeridge at 84 wrote an article entitled Beyond Death. "And so I live, just for each day, knowing my life will soon be over, and that I, like Michelangelo at the end of his life… 'have loved my friends and family. I have loved God and all creation. I have loved life and now I love death as its natural termination.'" "Life has its beginning in God", says Living Faith, "In God it will come to completion." So many seniors are living with a renewed quality of life that allows for depth and maturity. I thank God for the many seniors who share with me the wonder of life that is theirs well beyond three score and ten.

Prayer: (by George Mueller in the midst of a cholera epidemic:) "Who may be the next, God alone knows. I have never realized so much the nearness of death. Except the Lord keep us this night we shall be no more in the land of the living tomorrow. Into thine hands, O Lord, I commend myself. Here is thy poor worthless child! If this night I should be taken… my only hope and trust is in the blood of Jesus Christ shed for the remission of all my many sins. I have thoroughly washed in it, and the righteousness of God covers me. Amen."
